School of Arts/Luca Leuven, Belgium September 2014

Working with the Welminskis was an overall inspiring experience. They submerged us in completely new ways of making theatre. The first days they tickeled our imagination by giving us assignments that made us think differently about theatrical creation. We looked for inspiring images and symbols in visual arts and mythology, whereupon we started creating our own meaningful images. The next few days we transposed these images to theatrical scenes whilst learning a lot about Kantor's view on acting. Step by step we created a thematical coherent theatre that aimed at touching the spectator on a level that surpasses rational reflection and at confronting the spectator with the edges of human life. During two weeks we were stimulated to create both in a theoretical and in a practical way and we learned to look for ideas beyond our own horizon. During our performance, Tadeuzs Kantor's genius seemed to be present in Leuven, if only for one moment.
