These days we have to say again, that we are all Jews, that everybody is trafficking us in Sarajevo, that we all find ourselves on the stairway suspended in space, leading from nowhere to nowhere, that we are not going to live in a global village offered to us, but forever we will remain that wandering theatre, flitting about on the outskirts of the world, a theatre lying down its conjurer's mat not on the squares of Paris – as it used to be – but on its ghost haunted outskirts and crossroads, where still everything may happen.
